In recent years, stress and mental health concerns among learners and
communities have emerged as critical global challenges. Educational institutions are
increasingly recognized not only as centres of academic learning but also as significant
platforms for promoting emotional resilience, stress management, and psychological
well-being (World Health Organization [WHO], 2022; UNICEF, 2021). This research
paper examines the role of education in fostering stress management and mental
well-being among learners and communities through inclusive pedagogical
approaches, socio-emotional learning, mental health awareness programs,
counselling services, and community participation. The paper adopts a systematic
review approach based on contemporary educational and psychological literature,
policy reports, and mental health frameworks. The study highlights that educational
interventions such as mindfulness practices, value education, life skills education,
teacher support systems, and community engagement can contribute to stress
reduction and improved mental wellness among students (Durlak, 2019; OECD,
2021). Furthermore, the integration of mental health education into curricula
contributes to emotional intelligence, self-regulation, and positive social relationships
(Goleman, 1995; CASEL, 2020). The paper also explores challenges such as stigma,
lack of trained counsellors, academic pressure, digital addiction, and inadequate
policy implementation (UNICEF, 2021; WHO, 2022). The findings emphasize the
need for holistic educational reforms, teacher training, institutional mental health
policies, and collaborative partnerships between schools, families, and communities.
The study concludes that education serves as a transformative tool for building
psychologically healthy individuals and resilient communities (UNESCO, 2021;
National Education Policy [NEP], 2020).
